Child safety standards
Last updated 28 September 2026
What is prohibited
Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is never allowed anywhere on SendIt: not in public posts, Circles, direct messages, profiles or anything else. This includes:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, real, drawn or generated;
- content that sexualises a child, including comments on an innocent photo or video;
- grooming: building a connection with a child in order to abuse or exploit them;
- sextortion, and any request for sexual images from a child;
- trafficking, or advertising or soliciting children for sexual purposes;
- sharing a child’s personal details or location to help someone contact them.
In this policy a child is anyone under 18, whatever the law of the place they’re in.
How SendIt protects young people
- Minimum age. You must be 16 or older to have a SendIt account. SendIt’s logbook works without an account.
- No messages from strangers. Direct messages only work between two people who have accepted each other as friends. Circles are invite-only.
- Public posts are checked. Beta posted publicly is checked automatically before it appears. Anything the check isn’t sure about is held for a person to review.
- Location stays with friends. Showing which gym you’re at right now is off until you turn it on, and only goes to the friends or Circles you choose.
- Reporting and blocking everywhere. Any post, comment, message, profile, Circle or shared climb can be reported from inside the app, including with the reason “Someone under 16”. Anyone can be blocked.
- Filming. Our Community Guidelines ask climbers not to post videos focused on a child unless they’re the child’s parent or guardian or have their permission.
How to report
- In the app: open the menu on the post, comment, message, profile or Circle and choose Report.
- By email: write to support@senditbouldering.com with “Child safety” in the subject. Tell us where the content is (a username, Circle or link). Please don’t send us copies of any images or videos.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first: 111 in New Zealand, 000 in Australia.
You can also report child sexual abuse material directly to the authorities:
- New Zealand: the Department of Internal Affairs’ Digital Child Exploitation team, or New Zealand Police.
- Australia: the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation or the eSafety Commissioner.
- Anywhere else: your local police, or the NCMEC CyberTipline.
What we do
- Reports about children go to the front of the queue and are looked at as soon as we see them.
- We remove the content and suspend the account straight away. We don’t forward or share the material.
- We report it to the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs or New Zealand Police, and to the relevant authority where the people involved appear to be. We keep only what the law requires or allows for that report and for any investigation.
- We cooperate with law enforcement investigations and respond to lawful requests.
- Accounts involved in child sexual abuse or exploitation are closed permanently.
The law
SendIt Bouldering Limited follows the child protection laws of New Zealand, including the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993, and the laws of the other countries where SendIt is available, including Australia.
Child safety contact
Our designated contact for child safety is the child safety officer at SendIt Bouldering Limited, Wellington, New Zealand. Email support@senditbouldering.com with “Child safety” in the subject. Authorities can use the same address for urgent requests.
