Community Guidelines
Last updated 28 September 2026
The short version
- Treat people the way you’d want to be treated at the gym.
- Only share what’s yours to share, and only film people who are happy to be filmed.
- Keep public Beta about climbing.
- If something’s wrong, report it. If someone is in danger, call emergency services first.
Where these guidelines apply
Everywhere on SendIt: your username, display name, photo and bio; Beta posts, captions, tags and comments; Circles, including their names, chat, posts and plans; direct messages; shared climbs; gym submissions; and anything you send us.
Private spaces are still covered. Friendly swearing between climbers is fine in your Circles and messages, and we don’t read or filter them. But harassing someone in a direct message breaks these guidelines just as much as doing it in public, and the person on the other end can report it.
What’s not allowed
Harassment and bullying
- Threats, targeted abuse, humiliation or pile-ons against anyone.
- Contacting someone again after they’ve blocked you or asked you to stop, including through a new account.
- Sharing someone’s personal information without their permission, such as their address, phone number, workplace or where they are right now.
Hate
No attacks on people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or health. No slurs and no hateful symbols. SendIt refuses slurs in names, bios, Circle names and public Beta automatically, and removes them anywhere else when they’re reported.
Sexual content and nudity
No sexual content, nudity or sexualised images of anyone. Anything that sexualises a child is never allowed anywhere on SendIt. We remove it straight away, close the account and report it to the authorities. See our child safety standards.
Violence and dangerous behaviour
- No threats of violence, and nothing that glorifies or encourages violence.
- Nothing that encourages self-harm or suicide.
- Climbing carries risk and SendIt celebrates hard climbing. What isn’t allowed is content that encourages others to put themselves or anyone else in serious danger: climbing on structures that aren’t meant for it, tampering with safety equipment, or pressuring others into risks.
Spam, scams and illegal activity
- No spam: repetitive, misleading or mostly promotional posts, messages or comments.
- No scams, phishing, fake giveaways or requests for money or passwords.
- No selling or promoting anything illegal, and no stolen gear.
Impersonation and misleading names
Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not: another climber, a gym, a brand or SendIt itself. Names that look like SendIt or its staff (“SendIt Support”, “admin”, “moderator”) are reserved. SendIt staff will never ask for your password or sign-in code.
Filming other people
- Only post videos of people who are happy to be in them. If you’re not sure, ask first or trim them out.
- If someone asks you to take down a video they appear in, please do.
- Take particular care with children. Don’t post videos focused on a child unless you’re their parent or guardian, or have their parent’s permission.
- Follow each gym’s own rules about filming.
If you appear in someone’s video and didn’t agree to it, report it with the reason “I’m in this video and didn’t agree”. We’ll take it seriously.
Content that isn’t yours
Only post photos, videos, music and text that you created or have permission to use. See copyright complaints if someone has posted your work.
Shared climbs and the gym directory
Shared climbs and gyms are used by everyone, so keep them accurate. No fake gyms, deliberately wrong grades or locations, or vandalising a climb’s name or details.
Accounts
- You must be 16 or older to have a SendIt account.
- One person, one account. Don’t make new accounts to get around a block or a suspension.
- No bots, scraping, automated posting, or attempts to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours.
- Don’t misuse reporting to target people you simply disagree with.
Public Beta
When you post Beta publicly, everyone signed in to SendIt can see it, alongside other climbers’ Beta for the same climb. Public posts are checked automatically before they appear, and anything the check isn’t sure about is held for a person to review. Keep public Beta about climbing, and remember the people in the background.
Reporting and blocking
You can report a post, comment, message, profile, Circle or shared climb from its menu in the app. Pick a reason and add any detail that helps. The person you report is never told who reported them. For anything you can’t report in the app, email support@senditbouldering.com.
We aim to review reports within 48 hours. Anything involving a child or someone in danger comes first.
You can also block someone from their profile. They can’t message you, send you requests or invites, comment on or bump your posts, or notify you, and their content is hidden from you. They aren’t told. On your own posts, you can remove any comment yourself.
What happens when the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is and whether it’s happened before, we may:
- remove the content;
- reset a name, photo or bio;
- send a warning, which you’ll see in the app with the reason;
- temporarily or permanently restrict social access, including reading or contributing to Feed, Beta, messages, Circles and community submissions; private climb logging, cloud backup and your private media library remain available;
- close the account permanently; or
- report it to the police or other authorities where the law requires it or someone may be at risk.
Automated checks help us find problems in public posts and names. Decisions to warn, suspend or close an account are made by a person. Reports alone do not cause a suspension. The usual progression for staff-confirmed offences is 3 days, then 30 days, then a permanent social restriction. We may use a different duration or close an account for serious abuse. The app shows the reason and any end date.
Social restrictions preserve existing content and Circle memberships. When a temporary restriction ends, social access returns and held notifications become available in the bell, with one summary push. If staff instead delete an account, its content is removed and Circle ownership transfers automatically to another admin, or the longest-standing remaining member. The removed account does not choose the successor. Its email address is blocked from regaining SendIt access.
If you think we got it wrong
A suspended account can contact us from the suspension screen in the app. Or email support@senditbouldering.com within 30 days of the decision and tell us why. We’ll look at it again and reply.
Getting help
- If anyone is in immediate danger, call emergency services: 111 in New Zealand, 000 in Australia.
- In New Zealand, Netsafe can help with online harassment and harmful digital communications.
- In Australia, the eSafety Commissioner can help with serious online abuse.
Changes
We’ll update these guidelines as SendIt grows. When we make an important change, the app will ask you to agree to the new version before you share anything else.
